Unfortunately writing is part of the reason I even have a blog. Its a space to unload the various contents of my brain which I feel have some worth but that I haven’t found a use for yet. The hope is that in writing them I can go back and recover them when there is a need. Anyway, today I thought I would catch up a bit and just post some pictures of the activities of the last semester. Sorry if you are in any of these pictures I won’t use names and thus incriminate anyone.

Early on I managed to get some hiking in. I actually climbed to the top of Y mountain twice because the whole group couldn’t manage it at the same time. It is an amazing hike still.

A few weeks later I was able to return to the Mountains to participate in one of the honored traditions of the university. For home coming week I gathered a few friends and we met up with the blue-decked guards of tradition to climb the mountain and screw in a few light bulbs. It was a great deal of fun. For years now I have stared at the glowing Y and wished to get up there to see it.

As you would expect the Y is lit by regular 65 watt bulbs all stuck together in a long cable. They are spaced maybe 15 feet apart. To turn it on we all selected a spot along the line and gave our light bulb a few turns to unscrew it. When the moment was right, or when they were ready for us, we started in the center of the Y and turned in the light bulbs one at a time up to the top and then down the sides to the bottom. It mostly worked out. with only a few people slipping up.

Now that is a good idea.

It was a beautiful moment with all Utah Valley laid out below and the sun setting below.
