Third morning

I just wanted to throw out a quick note. I got up this morning (I managed to sleep until nearly 8 this time.) I was sitting on our porch overlooking the city and decided to read a bit in my bible. I flipped open to where I was reading in Genesis and read “And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. ” (Gen 22:1-3)

I glanced up and there afar off stood the golden dome that now marks the spot where some 4,000 years ago the father of nations met his greatest test. How glorious is this land. There is something very special here.

Our chapel has a huge window overlooking the city. I confess I had a very hard time looking at the people as they bore their testimonies. With the eternal city behind them they never stood a chance.

Happy Shabbot!
