Home again

We got back from Galilee today. There is so much to talk about and so many sights that we’ve seen that to capture it all is hopeless. The night is young yet so i will try to get at least one good post up. I’ll spend the next couple days sorting through artifacts and pictures and hopefully the more spectacular ones will provoke some kind of comment. I’ll try to avoid just posting a huge travel log. Although maybe that would be a good idea. Anyway, we survived. I watched the sunset over the Dome of the Rock today and felt very much at home in spite of a deep longing to return to Galilee. It is such a peaceful place. I kept trying to thing of a good analogy to compare to the two kinds of love (the love for Galilee and the love for Jerusalem).

I feel like Galilee is like childhood. We think of it with fondness because life was simple and peaceful. We often long to return.

Jerusalem is full of devotion. It can be terrifying and uncertain at times but we are drawn to it out of a very strong sense of duty. It is something important and powerful. I would compare it to love for adult life. It can be complicated and frightening at times but the heights are wonderful and the potential to learn and grow are tremendous. It isn’t a perfect analogy so I’ll keep thinking about it and see if I can come up with something better.
