Four years ago today I opened my mission call to serve in San Bernardino California. It remains one of the great defining experiences of a life full of incredible experiences. I confess that I never imagined then the life I have lived. I suppose that is to be expected though. I never thought I would travel as much as I have. I never thought college would be as hard or as easy as it has been. I never thought I would make as many or as high of quality friends as I have. I never imagined the closeness nor the uniqueness of the relationships I formed with members, missionaries, and investigators in California.
I suppose it will be equally impossible for me to predict the next several years, although I constantly try to do so. We must look to the future if we are to accurately rule the present. But surprises will come.
On this day, my birthday, I give thanks to a wonderful life and wonderful people who have led me to be the particularly set of qualities and experiences that I am. You have had a profound effect on me, I hope I can justify your attentions and the blessings that have been laid in my life.
